Dental Root Resorption: Diagnosis and Management Strategies

The prevalence of dental root resorptions seems to be increasing in recent years. Orthodontic tooth movement and dental trauma are considered as two major potential predisposing factors for the injury and stimulation phases of root resorption. Removal of stimulation factor, making a correct diagnosis, and a proper classification are key points to design the appropriate treatment plan for root resorptions. The scope of this lecture is to discuss the advances in diagnostic tools, classification, and treatment strategies for dental root resorptions. Management of some severe external and internal root resorption cases using conventional endodontic therapy and novel tricalcium silicate-based materials, and/or surgical interventions will also be presented with long-term follow-ups.
