Is Calcium Silicate-Based Sealers Usage a Paradigm Shift?

This lecture aims to discuss the clinical use of hydraulic calcium silicate-based sealers for obturation of the root canal space. Given the fact that these sealers grow in popularity over time, it seems essential to clarify why, when and how to use them. Hydraulic sealers have been extensively investigated in in vitro studies highlighting their interesting biological and physicochemical properties. The specificities of these sealers raise different questions connecting the research on these materials and their use in clinical practice which has been reported to be strongly variable between practitioners and often ignoring the available knowledge. At the end of this presentation, the participants should be aware of the advantages/limitations of calcium silicate-based sealers, their most relevant indications and how their selection may impact the endodontic clinical protocol.
